Hi Hi. Your tutorial really helped a lot, as I am a beginner, but I was wondering if you have a post about how you created the surface? with revit? Do you have a step by step tutorial, or any useful references
Hi Zach, great tutorial this one. I've just made a space frame from your lessons and was really easy. But i broke the curtain panel in a couple families, trying to overcome the problem with the overlapping pipes, and couldn't attach parameters from the nested families to similar ones in the host. Is there a way of doing this?
I think i need to explain better what i've already tried: -When setting the nested family parameters as type, in the host family (conceptual mass) i can´t assign them to new parameter; this option is unavailable. -When setting nested family parameters as instance, in the host family i can assign them to new parameters but i would have to do to all the instances. As the number of instances varies according to host size, i can't see how to do it.
Don't know why my first comment isn't showing, so, to clarify: i´m building a space simple frame composed of a curtain panel with a nested generic adaptive model (the pipe). I have some parameters in the nested model that i want to assign to parameters in the host model, which i have already done since i know the number of instances i´m using. The problem is the parameters, like pipe radius, that i want to associate in the massing family, where the number of instances can change a lot.
the download link in the original post isn't working.. anyway it can be fixed/updated?
ReplyDeletethanks Zach!
Hi Rob. Thanks, that link was to a long dead site. I'm having trouble finding that old file, but the new one is better anyway.
ReplyDeletemy bad, didn't even see the download on this one... oversight! thanks again!

ReplyDeleteHi Sumbo,
ReplyDeleteTake a look at this tutorial for a way to make a similar surface: http://buildz.blogspot.com/2011/01/parametric-pattern-vii-placeholder.html
